East Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA

I finally made it here, and got why Madison calls theirs the best pizza in Los Angeles. It’s very, very good. (And while there may be other exceptional places in the city where I haven’t been, it’s definitely the best Armenian pizza I’ve ever had, hands down.)

Their little corner at Melrose and Heliotrope is a glassed-in cube, with that horror of window treatment horrors, vertical blinds. Somehow, however, I found these plastic strips less offensive than usual. Maybe it was the light, their unusual length, or odd texture…

I’ve been thinking of Los Angeles all week while reading The Day of the Locust… your screening went so well! They loved the film and it really worked amazingly with some of the issues of liminality and architecture and boundaries/horizons and relationships that we were working through in Baldwin’s Giovanni’s Room. so thank you!

That’s so great! Am so glad to hear it. Maybe my new audience is English majors… And I should re-read me some Baldwin.
