After the rainbow on Monday, on my way to Atwater Village, I noticed a line of helicopters hovering in the sky. Turns out the spectacle was a block from my destination. Funny how that happens. I found out later that a man on his bicycle had fallen into the river — usually somewhere between placid and stagnant, but today a relatively raging rapids thanks to the storm.
The fire department (and four helicopters? I guess most of them belonged to TV news) was trying to get him out, but apparently he didn’t want to leave his bike behind. It was probably his only method of transportation.
